About me and about this blog...

The title of my actual blog is "Margaret Mead Was Right."
When I did my makeover with a wonderful free and gorgeous template from Yummy Lolly, I customized the header to include her famous quote, which you see above, in place of the title.
The quote is something I strongly believe in. And it is appropriate that it should come from an anthropologist since my first degree was in this field. My studies, my upbringing, and who knows what all else!, led me to to the position that I hold now in life: that one person can make a difference; that two people can work together to make even more of a difference, and that the biggest changes come from the smallest movements. I also believe that every problem must be attacked from all sides. Solutions have to be built after analyzing situations from 360 degrees and taking all aspects into consideration ~ otherwise we fail.

This blog is a place where I write about anything: my work in breast cancer, my love of food, my horseback riding, my personal fears and frustrations, my friends, my family ~ whatever I want!

And now for the boring bio:
I am married to Brian, and we have two rescued pit-bull mixes, Sasha and Sparky. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2001, at age 32, five days after returning home from our honeymoon. I am a Lifetime Television Breast Cancer Hero and the recipient of an Astra Zeneca Vision of Hope Award. I hold an M.B.A. in Health Care Administration, and have managed a breast health and cancer genetics programs at Riverside and Grant hospitals in Columbus. My current work is managing two research studies at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, including a national Patient Navigator Research Project and an NCI RO1 Colorectal screening project. Currently, I am also the President of the Board of Directors for the Young Survival Coalition (YSC) and volunteer a heck of a lot of time doing that.
I also ride horses and am leasing a wonderful AQHA registered gelding named Del Rey Rhythm (Snickers) who I am hoping to own one day!
